An accomplished artist and educator, Belinda Glennon joined the Crealdé faculty in 2002 and became the Young Artist Program Manager in 2009. She teaches hand-building and wheel throwing ceramics classes for adults and children. Glennon has been the coordinator for on-site, public school field trips for 15 years. In 2012, she initiated the ceramics program at the school’s Winter Garden facility, where she still travels once a week to inspire the young at heart to play in the mud. Glennon holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Central Florida. Glennon exhibits in art festivals and galleries including Thomas Center Galleries, Gainesville; Armory Art Center, West Palm Beach; 5th Avenue Gallery, Melbourne; Florida Craftsmen Gallery, St. Petersburg; Tavares City Hall; and the Alice & William Jenkins Gallery, Crealdé School of Art, Winter Park. Her work is in the collection of the City of Apopka.

Artist's Statement

“The spidery veins of a leafy green or the rugged scars from a fallen tree – like fossils, the permanence of stoneware gives a lasting impression to ephemeral objects and fleeting moments. It is a love of nature that led me to clay and continues to influence the form, function and decoration of my stoneware pottery. After a decade of creating handbuilt and wheel thrown pottery, I still love the challenge of taking a soft lump of clay and creating art of lasting beauty. Seeing it used with purpose completes the gesture.”
